Wearing White After Labor Day
Once upon a time, there were some serious fashion rules that style-savvy consumers followed to a “T.” However, fashion has come a long way, and style ruler-breakers have shown us that these guidelines (wearing white after labor day, mixing black and brown) can actually be super stunning. So forget the rules and check out these fun ways to rock white after Labor Day… after all, at 100+ degrees here in the Valley, it’s still summer fashion season around here!
Accessorize — Adding touches of white, cream or very light nude to your ensemble is the perfect way to transition your white wardrobe into the fall fashion season. White can still be used in accessories all season long, and consider looking for a white purse or shoes in a typically fall or winter seasonal fabrics such as wool, suede or faux fur.
Layer — A structured white jean jacket, crop blazer or flowy wrap can work as a transitional piece well into the fall season, as the nights (eventually!) start to cool down, or even to wear inside where typically the A/C is on full blast, no matter where you go.
Evening wear — Unless you are going to a wedding as a guest, not the bride, there is something extremely elegant and innocent about white evening wear. As you transition into more seasonal evening wear while keeping white as your color scheme, consider longer hemlines and sleeves.
Add fall hues — To signify your white ensemble as a decidedly autumn outfit, add hints of “fall” with deep-hued accents, such as a beautiful scarf in rich jeweled tones or booties instead of sandals.
Finally, the most important fashion rule is to rock what you feel comfortable in — no one can determine your signature style but you. Spend some time combining what already exists in your closet with some new fall pieces to make a stunning seasonal wardrobe without buying a whole closet full of clothes! Speaking of which… whether you are looking for just a few new key pieces to add to your collection or a whole new closet, the retailers at the SHOPS Gainey Village are here to help! Happy Shopping!
